Clefairy

Clefairy fulfills a niche as one of the few viable pure Fairy-types within the tier, lacking the weaknesses that Ribombee has to Fire and Flying while keeping the defensive utility of a Fairy-type. Its main niches over other Fairy-types like Aromatisse are its access to Knock Off, which makes common Fairy-type switch-ins like Charizard and Centiskorch bad options, and Magic Guard, which means it doesn't care about chip damage. With a wide support movepool featuring moves like Stealth Rock and Encore, along with reliable recovery, it can compress roles on certain teams effectively. However, despite these qualities, Clefairy is heavily reliant on its item to keep its bulk. It also suffers from competition with other pure Fairy-types like Aromatisse and Comfey; the former has more physical bulk and is less hindered by its item being removed, while the latter has Taunt and priority in Triage Draining Kiss. Finally, without Encore, Clefairy is liable to be taken advantage of by setup sweepers like Uxie and Doublade.
