Strategy Overview

Poison

High Special Attack and a wide range of coverage moves make Nihilego a good revenge killer or setup sweeper that improves Poison's Fire and Flying matchups. Nihilego's distinctive Speed tier is higher than those of Pokemon like Volcarona, Hydreigon, and Garchomp, making it more challenging to revenge kill. Its part-Rock typing contributes to Poison a lot by threatening Fire-type Pokemon like Volcarona, Victini, and Alolan Marowak with Power Gem and Meteor Beam. Nihilego's coverage moves in Thunderbolt, Grass Knot, and Dazzling Gleam allow it to also check Pokemon like Corviknight, Seismitoad, and Dragapult. Although Nihilego is an amazing revenge killer with both of its sets, it's vulnerable to Water-, Steel-, and Ground-type attacks and priority users like Urshifu-R , Crawdaunt, and Scizor. Its poor physical bulk makes it take a chunk from physical attacks like Knock Off from both offensive and defensive Pokemon.
