Strategy Overview

Chansey's sky-high, Eviolite-boosted special bulk allows it to wall nearly every special attacker in UU, including nearly unwallable threats such as Nidoking, Choice Specs Hydreigon, and Choice Specs Primarina. In addition, Chansey can withstand certain physical attacks from threats like Zygarde-10% and cripple them with Toxic. Chansey is hard to wear down, since it has Soft-Boiled for HP recovery and Natural Cure to remove status ailments, allowing it to be a status sponge into the likes of Amoonguss, Slowking, and Swampert. Chansey possesses a trove of valuable utility moves such as Teleport, Thunder Wave, Aromatherapy, and Stealth Rock to support its team. However, Chansey is rather passive, as it relies on Seismic Toss and Toxic to deal damage. As a result, many Pokemon such as Scizor, Excadrill, Skarmory, and Cobalion easily take advantage of Chansey. Without Teleport, Chansey is a huge momentum drain for non-stall teams. Chansey's typing provides few useful resistances, and Chansey by itself must rely on its bulk to keep threats in check. Chansey is vulnerable to every entry hazard, meaning it gets overwhelmed by them quickly. Chansey is also susceptible to Knock Off from Pokemon it would normally check like Azelf and Thundurus-T, as without Eviolite, it is harder for Chansey to keep threats like Zygarde-10% and Choice Specs Hydreigon in check.
