Strategy Overview
Absol is a good wallbreaker in the PU metagame thanks to a sky-high Attack stat, a spammable STAB option in Knock Off, and options to boost its Attack in Choice Band and Swords Dance. Access to priority in Sucker Punch, which is especially potent with Swords Dance, makes it harder to revenge kill. Its wide coverage options to hit standard Dark-type checks, like Iron Tail and Close Combat for Silvally-Fairy and Regirock, and an extremely strong STAB Knock Off are its main draws over Sneasel. Unfortunately, Absol's poor bulk, few resistances, and weaknesses to common Fighting- and Bug-type moves in the tier leave it with little defensive utility. This means Absol struggles to get in, and due to its middling Speed tier as well as Sucker Punch potentially being worked around, it often gets forced out.
