Other Options

Hisuian Typhlosion can run Solar Beam over Focus Blast on sun teams for a powerful coverage move against bulky Water- and Ground-types, but this leaves it defenseless against Incineroar. Choice Specs sets are nearly impossible for anything but the bulkiest Fire-resistant Pokemon to withstand, though this comes at the cost of Hisuian Typhlosion becoming vulnerable to revenge killers like Inteleon and Scyther. Hisuian Typhlosion lacks the capacity to use Infernal Parade effectively, as its fragility means it struggles to stay on the field long enough to spread burns. Blaze gives Flamethrower and Fire Blast a surge in power once Hisuian Typhlosion has been worn into range of activation; however, it should avoid being put into range of Blaze if possible, as it's most effective when using Eruption. Tera Blast in conjunction with a Grass Tera Type could let Hisuian Typhlosion surprise and overwhelm bulky Water-types like Vaporeon, Gastrodon, Swampert, and Milotic. However, Hisuian Typhlosion struggles to capitalize on Terastallization well or fit Tera Blast over any of its other moves, and running it often means depriving other teammates of a valuable resource.

Checks and Counters

Bulky Fire-Resistant Pokemon: Resisting Eruption, boasting solid special bulk, and setting Stealth Rock make Diancie a pain for Hisuian Typhlosion to beat without repeated opportunities to wear it down. Vaporeon, Milotic, and Gastrodon can wall Hisuian Typhlosion thanks to their recovery moves. Dragalge, Tentacruel, Swampert, and Goodra can tank even a Tera Fire-boosted Eruption from Hisuian Typhlosion in sun and hit it back hard, though they cannot switch into such a powerful attack repeatedly.

Faster Pokemon and Priority Users: Inteleon and Choice Scarf Chandelure can dispatch non-Choice Scarf Hisuian Typhlosion sets on their own. Aqua Jet from Basculegion, Paldean Tauros-W, and even Overqwil threatens to at least neuter if not outright OHKO Hisuian Typhlosion. Sucker Punch from Toxicroak and Shadow Sneak from Decidueye, Alolan Muk, and Brambleghast similarly threaten to chip Hisuian Typhlosion to reduce the power of Eruption for their teammates if they're unable to finish it off. However, few to none of these Pokemon switch into Hisuian Typhlosion well, and that's if they can switch in at all.

Residual Damage: Any damage takes away from Hisuian Typhlosion's ability to wallbreak effectively with Eruption, so entry hazards are terrible for Choice Scarf sets. Hisuian Typhlosion even struggles to switch into passive targets like Bronzong, Amoonguss, and Wish Sylveon due to the risk of taking any damage.
